Swiss South African venture leaders is a framework providing motivation, entrepreneurial know-how and support to South African and Swiss scientists while contributing to strengthen the cooperation between industries of South Africa and Switzerland. In June we talked to Karen Eksteen, who is a manager in the Innovation Skills Development at the Technology Innovation Agency (a government agency equivalent to the Swiss CTI), about the startup scene in South Africa. From October 5th to 9th she and 13 startups from South Africa will take part at workshops in Lausanne and Zurich. As a PHD student or a post-doc of a Swiss University who is interested in entrepreneurship, you are also invited to participate. All workshops are free of charge and you can apply for one or all four workshops or the pitchfest at Google Switzerland.

„The workshop and the business development program are designed to make an impact on participants‘ entrepreneurial careers, encouraging and enabling them to drive their projects and business ideas forward to successful companies. This business development program is sponsored by the Swiss South African Joint Research Program (SSAJRP). It includes visits to start-up companies and workshop sessions on topics such as intellectual property, marketing and start-up financing“, written in the media release. If you want to get in touch with entrepreneurs from South Africa and want to get to know the startup scene there better, this is your chance.
